Events and Programs Open to the Public

This page is designed to provide information to the public about how DHF grant funds are spent. On this page, programs are described that are both funded by the DHF and are open to the public. Please remember to visit this page when looking for interesting events to attend.

Many of these grants run for multiple months, and cannot easily be reflected on our Calendar of Events. We encourage to your bookmark both pages, and to attend our assorted programs often!

Teen Focus: Exploring Pop Culture's Power

Community Film Festival: Winter 2007
www.jfsdelaware.org

Amount Awarded: $11,865

This project is a hands-on video production program for incarcerated adolescents. As students critically examine media images and create original public service videos, participants are immersed in the humanities, both as critics and creators. In order to build a foundation for their video projects, Ferris School students will explore expressions of media culture-including print and video advertising, cinematic stereotypes, and counter-stereotypes, images of violence and glorified risk taking. These videos will be presented to an audience of peers-then displayed at a community film festival to broaden the scope of the project's community influence.
