How To Reserve a Speaker
Step 1:
Contact the speaker of your choice at least four weeks before the hoped-for event date. Together, set a date and time for the talk.
Step 2:
Make sure you are a member of the Forum. The annual membership fee of $50 provides each member with up to two (2) free Speakers Bureau talks. If you are not already a member, you will need to enclose your check with the Speaker Reservation Form. Speakers Bureau talks can only be scheduled by members.
Step 3:
After you have arranged a date and time with the speaker, print out and complete the Speaker Reservation Form and mail or fax your information at least two (2) weeks in advance to:
Delaware Humanities Forum
100 W. 10th Street
Wilmington, DE 19801
FAX: (302) 657-0655
Step 4:
Work to recruit an audience of at least 20 people.
Step 5:
When we process your reservation, we will send you two copies of a Speakers Bureau agreement form. The agreement form is a confirmation of the details of the talk. Within 7 days, sign and return one copy to DHF. The Forum can only underwrite the speaker's fee if it receives a signed copy of the agreement form. The DHF pays the speaker directly.
To Host a Talk
The DHF requires that a minimum of one hour be allotted for any presentation, and that the event end with audience participation. Shorter events and events without an opportunity for discussion cannot be supported.
If the presentation is planned to coincide with a business meeting, the speaker must be scheduled first, prior to any business.
You will receive a packet of instructions that tell you how to introduce the speaker and acknowledge the DHF as sponsor of the event. The DHF sends out audience evaluation forms on a random basis. If your packet contains evaluation forms, pass them out to audience members prior to the talk.
After the event, evaluate the speaker using the Program Coordinator's evaluation form and send it, along with the audience evaluations, to the DHF.
Questions? Call DHF at 657-0650 or (800) 752-2060.
