  According to the Global Slavery Index, 40.3 Million people still live in modern-day slavery today. This is 4x as high as the number of slaves sold & shipped from Africa to the Americas during the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

• What are the main types of modern-day slavery?

  Forced marriage and forced labor. The latter also includes child work and sex-trafficking.

• Are there any slaves in the United States?

  Unfortunately, yes. In the United States, the estimated number of slaves comes to about 403,000 people according to the Global Slavery Index.
